I've been doing a hell of a lot of drawing lately, it's just that a lot of it is not for dA (I'm doing an emergency planning placement with my local council, and they found out I knew how to use photoshop and went a bit nuts xD). The rest I can't post on dA quite yet for several reasons...so it looks like I've been doing nothing but honest I haven't! (also that's why I haven't commented/replied to some stuff...sorry about that!)


Aaaanyway, the other night I took a break from all the important things that I need to draw and did this instead. I've been listening to the band Brand New recently, particularly their third album, which seems to fit my nitrokinetic character Lucas (who I've redesigned somewhat since I last drew him...) really well - there's even a song on it called 'Luca', which has a couple of lines that are really great for him. But it was the song 'Untitled' (which says one thing when played forward and another when played backwards, hence the backwards writing) that put the image above in my head.

For those who don't know, in my stories nitrokinesis refers to the ability to manipulate and create explosions. Lucas really struggles to control his powers, especially when he's angry or upset, and in one incident he accidentally destroys a large part of his hometown, almost wiping it off the map. Everything he knows, everyone he grew up with - gone, or damaged beyond repair. The government start to think he was the cause of the explosion because there's an increasing number of reports of superhumans coming out of the woodwork and due to the fact that they found him at the epicentre of the explosion, somehow still alive (although burnt in several places and partially deafened). He ends up on the run, leaving destruction in his wake. The government just see him a a high priority target because he's so dangerous, but really he's just a kid who needs help.

If you recognised the song just from the writing or you like Brand New talk to me! My favourite song is probably 'You Won't Know', since that's the first one I heard, but I really like most of the songs on that album (I will forever be crying over 'Limousine' oh man). First time listeners - probably go for 'The Archers' Bows Have Broken' or their earlier two albums which are more pop punk than punk rock.
