Another picture for MimiALala's character theme challenge!

This time we have Lucas, aka Fawkes, the nitrokinetic, who you may remember from here. He can manipulate explosions, and I originally chose the song for him solely because of the fire references in the chorus. However, after looking at some of the lyrics for the verses I found that they link scarily well to his story. When he feels angry and/or upset, Lucas finds it increasingly difficult to control his powers - a weakness that led to the accidental destruction of his hometown not that long after he developed his powers. He considers himself completely responsible for the death of everyone he knew and loved (which links to the lyrics "...I try not to lose what's left of me/But it's gone..." and "...one last time to the wishing well/I throw down the change and I wish them well/But they're gone...").

He has to carry on, though, at first simply because he is on the run from the government after the whole 'annihilating an entire city in one go' malarky, but then because he needs to for the sake of society as he knows it. He and the others are the only ones with the chance to save everything - they have no choice, whether they like it or not (which most of them don't). Lucas decides to use his powers for good for once, so he can give something back using the thing that has, up until now, only destroyed and been a curse. And when he does - when they all do - and they save the world together...well, he comes alive again. He feels like it is possible for something positive to be done with his powers. And that means that maybe there's a point to everything that's happened after all.


I just wanna thank God for this picture - I mean, I feel like I haven't been able to draw anything decent digitally for absolutely ages, and yet this weekend I've churned out those two sky drawings and this thing, all of which I'm really proud of and actually enjoyed drawing...and it just felt absolutely great! So THANK YOU, GOD!! YOU'RE THE BEST!!

I plan to draw proper pictures (either like this or like the one I did for Jack) for all of the characters in this story. That way you'll know who they all are and I'll know what they all look like xD Here's a list:

Their story hasn't got a name yet, partly because they don't have a decent team name. I'm referring to them as SESFLT for the moment (which is their codename initials). Any bright ideas?

Also - the writing on his t-shirt says 'Fever Dream', which is a rock band Lucas likes (who, sadly, don't really exist - at least, not as far as I'm aware...? I'm making up quite a few random bands for this story, because they all have to be made up since the stories don't take place on Earth. I will post a map of the setting at some point!)
